The 2016 conference of NUMOV, the German Near and Middle East Association, with a focus on Iran, will be held in Berlin on April 5, announced Iran Chamber of Commerce Industries and Mines.

The conference will provide Germany with an opportunity to meet with Iran’s economic representatives and its private sector and obtain first-hand information about trade and cooperation between the two countries.

Following the implementation of Iran’s nuclear deal dubbed Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in January, the primary sanctions against Iran were lifted and a wide spectrum of new trade opportunities were opened for the country.

In reference to the significance of this year’s conference, NUMOV wrote, “the ‘Made in Germany’ brand is highly popular in Iran and the Islamic Republic possesses one of the largest markets in Near and Middle East and at the moment, has high demands in all areas.”

Back in January, a delegation of high ranking board members of NUMOV from a wide range of sectors visited Iran for talks on expansion of economic cooperation. The delegation was organized by NUMOV and headed by Gerhard Schröder, the Former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany and Honorary Chairman of NUMOV, at the invitation of Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade.

Iran-Germany Joint Economic Commission is scheduled for May 2-4, after a 14-year gap. The meeting will be attended by Sigmar Gabriel, Germany’s vice chancellor and minister of economic affairs and energy, and Ali Tayyebnia, Iran’s minister of economic affairs and finance, as well as major German companies.
