The Italian Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Maurizio Martina, will visit Iran Feb. 9 to continue talks for joint cooperation, announced Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture.
The Italian Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Maurizio Martina, heading a delegation comprising deputy ministers and other heads of the country’s Ministry of Agriculture and the private sector, is slated to visit Iran on February 9, 2016, for a two-day visit.
The Italian delegation will continue talks with Iranian officials on furthering cooperation as well as following up on the implementation of a number of memorandums previously signed between the two countries.
Iranian Minister of Agriculture, Mahmoud Jannati, and his accompanying political and trade delegation headed by President Hassan Rouhani arrived in Italy on January 25, and attended a specialized conference on agriculture with his Italian counterpart on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
During the conference attended by 40 major Iranian and Italian companies, the two sides exchanged views on food industry and processing of agricultural products, machineries, seeds and seedlings, investment in production of flavorings, enzymes and food stabilizers in Iran for export to the EU, as well as technical consultation on the development of fruit and vegetables export markets.
A MoU to expand scientific, research and practical collaborations in the areas of supervision, prevention and control of pests as well as exchange of experts and achiements was signed between the two countries on Jan. 25 in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.
The two sides had also struck a cooperation agreement in the agriculture sector in Expo Milan prior to the landmark nuclear deal which came into effect on Jan. 16, 2016.
